Who We Are
Tanya McCaffery | Founder + CEO | email@example.com
Tanya McCaffery is passionate about accounting. Her ability to streamline accounting procedures and reduce the overhead associated with accounting led first to the creation of The CFO Group in 2002 and most recently to her outsourced accounting solution called VAST (Virtual Accounting Services Team).
As head of The CFO Group, Tanya is one of the first to roll up her sleeves to help business owners improve their profitability and provide solutions that help them make smarter financial and tax decisions. Tanya’s easy approach to accounting is grounded in the belief that great accounting doesn’t have to be complicated or difficult. She believes that business owners are empowered with financial information. Good organization, the ability to streamline procedures and a passion for numbers is what gives Tanya her accounting edge.
Tanya McCaffery is a CPA with over 20 years of accounting and finance experience. She graduated from the University of Nevada-Reno with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. Tanya works closely with clients in the areas of outsourced CFO services, financial statement audits, financial analysis and budgeting.
Tanya also works with business owners to educate them on better accounting practices and improving their company’s success through her educational platform calledVAST:Track. VAST:Track offers entrepreneurs a series of seminars, video courses, articles and newsletters to help take their company to the next level of success. Tanya teaches a variety of topics including, among other things, setting up the foundation for a startup, preventing employee theft, cost reduction, improving financial reporting and setting up budgets.
Tanya’s client base is very diverse and includes retailers, restaurants, construction contractors, non-profit organizations and manufacturing firms to name a few.
In her capacity as the outsourced CFO for various companies, Tanya has obtained extensive experience in turnaround management, forensic accounting, financial reporting, cost review and control and cash flow forecasting. Tanya possesses overall business knowledge in the areas of fraud detection and internal control, evaluation of real estate transactions and project cost accounting.
Prior to The CFO Group, Tanya worked for Grant Thornton LLP. Her responsibilities revolved around both audit and tax engagements along with making recommendations to management on improvements to procedures and internal control. Prior to working in public accounting, Tanya worked in the gaming and manufacturing sectors where she was responsible for budgeting, payroll analysis, and construction in progress, government contract negotiation, and project cost accounting.
Tanya is very involved in her community. She acts as the Treasurer for the Rotary Club of Reno and is on the Community Advisory Committee and Wellness Subcommittee for Renown Health. Tanya is also very involved in the activities of her sons volunteering with the Great Basin Youth Soccer League, Reno National Little League and Caughlin Ranch Elementary School.
Alex Jitloff | Vice President of Administration | Grandfather of the Year
Alex Jitloff brings over 30 years of accounting, finance and operations experience to us. He is a graduate of San Jose State University with a Bachelor of Science with emphasis in accounting.
Alex is a Vice President with The CFO Group and is responsible for the financial operations of a large list of client companies including acting as outsourced CFO, making recommendations to reduce costs and improve profitability, implementation of accounting systems, and advising on improvements to internal control. Alex has been instrumental in preparing budgets, forecasts and cash flow analyses for client companies.
Prior to The CFO Group, Alex held senior financial positions with public and private companies primarily in the high tech, manufacturing sector. Most recently he was the Director of Finance, CFO at Hamilton Company with group revenues of $100M. The business develops, manufactures and sells laboratory automation equipment for the biotech, clinical and pharmaceutical markets, precision fluid measurement instruments and medical ventilators. Alex previously served as a director on the board of Far West Skiing, a non-profit organization supporting junior alpine ski racing in California and Nevada. He served as Vice President of the organization for one year and President for four years.
Chelsie Rose Kern | Director of Marketing + Customer Experience | Rule Breaker
Chelsie’s fervent passion for challenging the status quo is just one of the many brilliancies that make her great. From her affinity for breaking the stereotype of tattoos in the workplace to all-things girl power, she’s a powerful player of Team VAST. As the VAST coordinator she is responsible for customer relations, explaining accounting services to clients and making sure that new clients understand the VAST process before they continue working with our professionals. When she isn’t on-boarding new clients or promoting the arts and music culture in the Truckee Meadows, Chelsie works with VAST executives to create exciting new content for products and attention-catching marketing campaigns. She is energetic about her role on the VAST team for its modern identity in an industry overrun with outdated processes and stereotypes. Chelsie is highly skilled, but her compassion for others is affluent. Just like VAST.
Melanie Jubenville | VAST Lead | Saxophone Sensationalist (Someday)
“Whatever you choose, do not choose accounting.” Several years after receiving this advice from her mother, Melanie Jubenville is our accounting superstar. Staying informed on the day-to-day status of her clients’ financials from cash flows to payroll is just the tip of Melanie’s iceberg of duties around the VAST office. She keeps her clients up to speed so there’s never a question about where money is coming from or where it’s going, allowing the businesses she works with financial freedom and peace of mind. When she isn’t exploring the great outdoors or hiking the face of her most recent rocky-terrain target, Melanie delights in helping small businesses find success through her efforts at VAST. Today is the era of the small business, and she couldn’t be happier to be a part of it (and her mom is happy she stuck with it, too).
Matt Preston | VAST Lead | Sucker for a Good Tomato
Just as VAST is unlike your typical accounting firm, Matt is unlike your typical accountant. This VAST team player is a proud member of our auditing staff (he’s also a proud natural red head). When he isn’t helping small businesses file their taxes or continuing his yearly tradition of attending his favorite music festivals, Matt is helping the professionals at VAST perform to their highest potential, bringing positive change to the small businesses he works with. The enjoyment he feels working for VAST is paralleled by the glee he experiences when he finds a really quality pair of slacks. Matt says that VAST gives their clients space—unlike an ex—and he likes that. In the snack room, you can usually find Matt snacking on fresh tomatoes like many would a daily apple (and of course he’s sporting a nice pair of slacks).
